Testimonials

Mark Ivashkin

I have known Dave at A&D engines for 30-plus years. I have highly recommended his services to my friends and family. Over the years, he has built many engines for me, most recently a Ford 460 for my Nordic jet boat, two years ago, and this March 2009, a vintage 283 Chevy for me as well.

As always, his workmanship is always right-on, which is why I always go back to Dave at A&D engines.

They have awesome quality control and customer service, and that is why I refer him to anyone that asks.

Sincerely,
Mark Ivashkin

Tartan Industries

Tartan Industries uses its Chevy stake bed truck daily for pickup and delivery of heavy parts used in the fabrication of missile components.

The truck had been breaking down on a regular basis.
We sent the engine out to A&D engines to restore and modify the engine for its intended hard use, and they did an excellent job.
The work was completed on time and within the estimated cost.
Tartan will go back to A&D engines again!

Sincerely,
Tartan Industries

Bob Gordon

I have known Dave for about 10 years. My son rebuilt an engine while he was attending auto shop in college.
After a short time, we started hearing some noises from the engine. By the way, it was installed in a 1965 Chevy Malibu.

We pulled the engine out and discovered failed bearings. We decided to give the job to A&D engines. Dave rebuilt the engine for my son and did a great job! The work he performed by machining and setting the clearances was very good. I was very impressed with the way Dave insisted and ensured that all the sizes were right, after he corrected the problems that he found. The engine now has been running for years and is running excellently!

I have been around engines my whole life and I would highly recommend Dave's work to anyone interested in performance and quality.

Sincerely,
Bob Gordon

Art McCord

I am the second owner of this Corvette, and the car is my pride and joy. The 327/375 horsepower engine was really tired, and I started to look for a place that could do a top-notch job.
I called on several different shops and after due course I decided to use A&D engines for the restoration of my 327 engine.
David at A&D restored this engine back in 1989 and did a beautiful job. It looked so good when he got done with it that is was almost a shame to put back in the Corvette.

In fact, till this day that engine that Dave restored for me still runs as well as the first day I installed it.
Thanks again Dave, and keep up your good work!

McJack's Corvettes

I have been working with David and A&D Engines for several years now and I am very happy with his quality of work.
It is hard to find a good machinist these days, who can build an engine right the first time and also blueprint it.
I use David's services for my personal cars as well as for my customers.

A&D ENGINES shows David's experience, knowledge and quality control in his equipment and dedication to customer service.

From the family car to racing engines, A&D ENGINES can do it all!

Sincerely,

Mike Braun

My name is Mike Braun. I have known Dave for approximately 15 years now. Dave is the owner of A&D Engines. Over these years, I have purchased seven or eight new engines and had many engines and heads rebuilt to better than new condition. There is a reason why Dave is known as “The Engine Doctor.” A&D Engines was recommended to my family from a reputable parts store. My family and I prefer to perform mostly all of our own mechanical repairs and performance upgrades. The reason Dave was so highly recommended is because of his extremely thorough attention to detail. When Dave assembles an engine, it is strategically put together as a total package. Engines are balanced and blueprinted, and in my case, ported and polished. I have been a union millwright for over 21 years, which means I am a mechanic by trade. I deal with extremely tight and precision tolerances every day, which is why Dave and I relate very well. Dave builds engines to factory specifications. A&D Engines does not “re-manufacture” engines like some local butcher shops. Every engine that leaves A&D is better than new.

A few vehicles of mine that A&D Engines has built engines for are my ’69 GMC truck, which has had two engines in the last 12 years. The 1st one, 12 years ago, was relatively stock, around 300 horsepower. For the most recent one, a year ago, he built a balanced and blueprinted, ported and polished, small-block 350.span> This engine had extensive head work, race cam, and all the beautiful exterior items to go with it. It has well over 400 horsepower, runs cool, and is very reliable.

Another project we worked on was a 1993, 40th anniversary Corvette. Dave gave this engine the royal treatment. The stock LT-1 engine was enhanced with an all new lower end, and ported and polished heads. What’s important to note here is the engine had cracked heads that other shops refused to even touch. Dave made the necessary repairs before porting and polishing, and they have been performing very well now for three years.

I have a 24-foot Day-Cruiser boat, and it is heavy. It had a stock engine that put out 210 horsepower originally. It was slow and sluggish. It now travels through the water 5 to 10 miles per hour faster than before. The beauty is we did not sacrifice any reliability. The gain was obtained by assembling the engine to precise tolerances with balancing and blueprinting.

Over the years, Dave and I have become good friends. Dave is a family man like myself. He has great morals and good Christian family values.

Sincerely,

Mike Braun
